Chairman How's Glorious Army   Covering the Syracuse Crunch from the stands since '08

The Dispatch is reporting that a trade is currently in the works between CBJ and the Caps. The juiciest rumor is the rights to Filatov for D-man Karl Alzner. There are other names that have been put on the table, as well–the Dispatch is placing bets on Chimera or Torres for Jurcina or Morrisonn, for instance.

Thankfully, this won’t mean a body coming from Syracuse and going somewhere else for the benefit of only the Jackets (not that they’ve done that before or anything…). However, I’m not really sure if it’s going to help us–Alzner has been with the Caps all year, not Hershey, so the best it would probably give us is Roy back. If he comes back and plays, great, but if he comes back–as I suspect he will–with a healthy case of the NHL Flu then we’re still pretty screwed.

We’ll be keeping tabs on this.

Update 4:02 P.M.: Trade has been completed. Jason Chimera was traded for Milan Jurcina and Caps’ captain (interesting, that) Chris Clark. From where we sit, this is a pretty even trade–it’s our opinion that Chimera was pretty much worth what he was traded for.  How/if/when this actually helps us remains to be seen. I assume Roy will be making his eventual return, but whether it will be Return of the Jedi or Return of the Shitpile…well, I guess we’ll just have to see.
