Maroon showed scoring touch prior to sudden departure

Patrick Maroon presumably did something to anger the Flyers organization, but no one has revealed precisely what it was.  What is known is that the Philadelphia brass sent him home late last month, despite the fact that Maroon had more than a quarter of Adirondack’s goals through the first nine games of the season.

[Adirondack coach Greg] Gilbert wouldn’t comment on whether a specific incident sparked the dismissal. Asked if Maroon would return, Gilbert repeated the statement about re-assignment.

Phantoms captain Dan Jancevski and another player approached also declined to comment specifically on whatever led to Maroon’s dismissal.

After a recent Syracuse stretch of more than 140 minutes without a goal (Nov. 12-19), it sure is nice to add someone who is on pace for a career year in the scoring column.  And whatever Maroon did, it appears that the Ducks are aware of it and have deemed him fit for another opportunity.  He’s not on the ice right now in Rochester, so it looks as though he will make his Crunch debut on home ice this Friday against Hershey.
