One goes up, one comes down

Transactions ahoy today. As many noted last night, Alex Killorn did not play for the Crunch. With the news that Tampa was planning a recall for today’s game at the Rangers, we all kind of assumed it was him. It was made official today that Killorn is, indeed, seeing his first call up. We wish him well, but selfishly hope he’ll be back soon.

However, with Killorn going up, Tampa also helped out our struggling Crunch by sending down Dana Tyrell. Tyrell cleared waivers today, and it’s being reported by Jeremy Houghtaling of Bolt Prospects on Twitter that Tyrell will wear number 21 at the game at ADK this afternoon. My good bud Amy chimed in on Tyrell:

He’s a character guy and one of the hardest workers you will see. He will only help the Crunch. He’s very fast, good on the boards and not afraid to get in the dirty areas. He’s also very defensively responsible, and is good on the PK. (He) went through two knee surgeries on the same knee so he’s had to battle through a lot to continue to play. Knocks are size & lack of scoring; originally projected to be a 2nd or 3rd line guy.

Welcome to Syracuse, Tyrell! We’ll see you on the 20th, which just happens to be the third anniversary of the first-ever AHL Outdoor Classic. Maybe good vibes from that day will help put a stop to our home woes. Tyrell is claiming Alexandre Picard’s old number, and we all remember what he did on that day.
